This conversation helps you understand your options and makes you feel satisfied with the end result.

But what actually goes on during an in-home consultation? And how will bringing samples to your home help you better choose the perfect window treatment? Different companies may have different procedures for their in-home consultation, but here is what you will get during your Sunburst visit.

Stepping Through A Typical In-Home Shutters Consultation

Start by scheduling an appointment by calling your local representative. If you already have a shutter or window treatment in mind, like our Polywood® plantation shutter, then we will make it a point to bring you a variety of options related to your preferred product. We will also offer alternatives, so you can be sure that your room matches your vision.

After we come to your house, we’ll sit down and talk about what you need in a window treatment. We’ll spefically ask about your lighting, privacy, and energy efficiency needs, and we’ll pay special attention to hard-to-reach or specialty-shaped windows. Your consultant will also want to know how the room is used and what aesthetic you want to attain. And it’s alright if you don’t know percisely what you want, as we’ll explain all your options.

You may have to see many different window treatments and compare each window treatment against each other. Red Flags For A Bad In-Home Shutter Consultation

While we are sure that Sunburst will give you an easy and enjoyable in-home consultation, there are some actions you should never witness from any window treatment salesperson. After all, the quality of your sales representative reflects the quality of the window treatments.

Primarily, your rep should be careful and professional. He or she should show up when promised, clean and presentable, and offer to prevent floor scuffs with shoe booties. Your representative should always give you product and company literature and pricing details.

In regards to pricing, you should be given a detailed written quote. Don’t accept a large pricing range, scrawled on a scrap piece of paper or the back of a business card. And don’t take a quote if they won’t measure your windows. You should always be able to follow how much the final bill will cost you. Be sure to to search for references and online reviews.
